About Derek Kudrow
An early interest in Jazz inspired Derek to study music theory and has resulted more recently in an original application for guitar. During the 80's and 90's Derek was the lead singer/songwriter/guitarist for a modern rock band called the Election which was signed to Altair Management of San Francisco. The band enjoyed headlining at most of the major rock venues in the Bay Area and eventually disbanded when Derek moved to New York City where he ultimately performed with members of the Metropolitan Opera and American Ballet Theater at Lincoln Center which resulted in a positive review by the New York Times. After a brief relocation to Los Angeles where Derek worked as a studio musician and assistant sound engineer for local talent, he moved back to the Bay Area and is rapidly establishing himself as an "A-list" performing jazz guitarist. Derek continues to teach privately, conducting advanced guitar workshops and children's music camps. Derek's most recent project is the development of a children's band called Chasing Maya. |
